Intentions stated as goals fail under pressure. Intentions stated as specific if-then links succeed far more often, because the situation itself triggers the response and no deliberation is required.
The trading versions are simple to write. If price closes beyond my invalidation, I exit at market. If I take two losses before ten thirty, I stand up and stop for an hour. If I catch myself sizing above plan, I halve the order before sending. Each pairs a cue you will actually notice with one concrete action.
Rehearsal matters more than wording. Say the rules aloud before the session and run them in simulation; the cue has to be recognised in the state you will be in, which is not the state you wrote them in. See present-bias.
